WHERE IT ALL STARTED...

Kareem Moore (far left, black sweater)

As a teen, Kareem Moore, attended a public New York high school by the name of Queens Gateway. While in high school, he developed a love for philanthropy, so during his senior year of high school, he started an initiative called "Born to Give Moore". This initiative was put into place, to gather up gifts of all sizes, to donate to children cancer patients at Long Island Jewish Hospital. The initiative was so successful that his school vowed to make it an annual program that the school will continue even after Kareem graduated in 2016. Since graduating, Kareem goes back to his high school every year to ensure that the toys are collected during the Christmas holiday's.

After graduating high school, Kareem Moore, went on to attend his dream school, Morehouse College. Upon arriving on campus, he instantly saw how many opportunities, and resources, were available for students, to support ones creativity. Kareem knew he wanted to continue his philanthropic journey throughout his matriculation at Morehouse, but he didn't know exactly where to start. As the school year progressed, Kareem bonded with his roommate, Nicholas Porter. He later built a close connection with two of his Morehouse brothers, Gerard Harden and Charles Porch.

THE DREAM CONTINUES

On April 11th, 2017, Kareem Moore noticed that the campus lacked an organization that didn't just marginalize itself in the idea of generic service, but instead, overall community ascension. So, he met with 3 of his close friends (Gerard Harden, Charles Porch, and Nicholas Porter) and began drafting up a constitution for an organization. Gerard Harden played a major role in the creation of the constitution, and helped to come up with the acronym, we have all grown to love; M.O.O.R.E. (Modest, Optimistic, Open-Minded, Resilient, and Exemplary).  Nicholas Porter and Charles Porch were both Bonner Scholars at Morehouse College , so they had a strong background in service, and was able to help with the vision of how the organization should run, in that aspect. Kareem Moore constructed the mission statement: "The goal is not only to succeed, but as you succeed, bring others with you. It is one thing to achieve, but one should strive to achieve more.".

Upon completion, all 4 founders moved forward to finding a campus advisor, which was the most difficult part. It seemed as though a lot of faculty couldn't see the vision as the 4 founders saw it. After several faculty members turned them down, the anxiety seemed to rise, since there was a deadline to meet. Then one day, Kareem Moore ran across Ms. Gabrielle Bell, as he was strolling through the science department. She could see the drive in his eyes as he pitched the idea of the organization. Within 24 hours, she accepted the role as advisor for the organization, and they were able to turn in the application on time!

Achieve M.O.O.R.E. was then chartered on the campus of Morehouse College on July 19th, 2017.

"Through the endeavors of Achieve M.O.O.R.E. one realizes while bettering themselves they're unconsciously bettering the world around them."

LOGO EXPLANATION

The founder, Kareem Moore, has always had a fascination with watches. So, he took his favorite watch (pictured below) and modeled the logo after it. Inside, you'll see that there are 3 circles which encompass each of the organizations' objectives: Philanthropy, Comradery, and Altruism. The circle that says "Altruism, is bold because putting others before ourselves, is something we pride ourselves on, the most. Hence the term, "Bring Others With You", from our mission statement. As for the color choices: Gold- Adds richness and warmth to everything with which it is associated; it illuminates and enhances other things around it, White- Openness, growth and inclusivity; it amplifies everything in its way, Black- To be sophisticated or very dignified. Then, "Achieve M.O.O.R.E." takes up only half of the clock because it shows that as time goes on, one realizes that they can always "Achieve M.O.O.R.E." in all aspects of life. The idea of a clock shows the importance of time, and it is the most valuable thing we have that we can give someone.
